It used to be when I was a kid
Years ago, back in the day--
Parents would tell us: don't do
As I do, do as I say.
Sometimes it seems we need
To go back to that time.
The recent college admission
Scam brought this to mind.
Parents are supposed to encourage
Their kids, not bribe and cheat
In a conspiracy with others to get
Admission to colleges deemed "elite".
Besides setting a bad example--
What message does it send to their
Kids? You're entitled so this is what you do?
We don't think you can get in fair and square.
Either way is wrong and shouldn't be
Done. The parents involved need
To pay the tuitions for students serious
About college, not rich people's greed.
