It's a Kansas Sunday morning
In winter. The wind blows hard
And cold. Snow is falling, just
A bit--looks more like a blizzard.
We have to be prepared for anything.
Our weather changes at the drop of a hat.
One day you're in shorts and flip-flops--the
Next your long underwear, heavy coat and cap.
Kids hope it's enough for schools
To close. Sometimes yes--sometimes no.
Nobody wants to sit in school, when
They could be playing in the snow.
Pray for the homeless in weather like this, when
The shelters are full, they have no place to go.
They go to sleep bundled up out of the cold wind.
Whether they wake the next day--no one knows.
It's not just in Kansas--homeless people
Are everywhere. Some are vets who
Fought for our country--when they come
Home, where can they go?
They deserve the best care we can give
Them. Not a box and blankets under a
Bridge. No money, no home, or food unless
They panhandle, they feel displaced.
It's a wintry Kansas Sunday morning.
Pray hard for those without, that they
Get the help they need, both physically and
Mentally and spiritually so they can feel worthy.
