Tiny ball of coal black fur,
With big green eyes, always
On alert. Hides under my car
Or in the bushes, ready to run away.
He has 4 siblings, as cute as he,
There's just something about him--
No nonsense of bad luck or being
A witches pet. That's silly superstition.
Our dogs like to watch them playing
On our porch or driveway.
One gets on the back of the couch, and
Looks through the front window like a movie.
Some people are mean to black
Cats or black dogs. They're
Usually the last to be adopted
From shelters--if ever.
We've set up beds under our
Porch swing--so they can get
Out of the weather. Our neighbor
Feeds them, she has a cat for a pet.
That little tiny black ball of fur
Will find it's forever home someday.
We'll all have fond memories of
Watching it and it's siblings play.
