You read books or see movies that
Talk about "love that lasts a lifetime".
Some scoff and say that's a fairytale.
But if you're blessed to find it--it's sublime.
It's not always easy and everything
Doesn't go smoothly, but with that
Kind of love you get a partner who shares
The load equally, and always has your back.
When you argue--you don't just leave,
You stay and work things out.
When something is broken, you fix it--
Causing a stronger bond and less doubt.
The only time it won't last
Is if there is abuse.
Even if they say they love you--
Harming you is no excuse.
You'll have a wonderful life when
Things are as they should be--
And you'll leave your family
With a beautiful legacy.
