This time of year,
There are goodies galore.
Most home-made only,
A few from the store.
Different types of candy, fudge
Of every flavor you can find--
Peanut brittle, toffee chips, peanut
Clusters, divinity-something of every kind.
All different kinds of cookies--
Especially decorated Christmas
Sugar cookies, gingerbread men
And houses, how long will they last?
Then there are the cakes and pies--
Pastries that are each family's tradition.
Recipes safe guarded and handed
Down to each family's generation.
There are fruitcakes that most
People hate--sugar plums and plum
Pudding. Candy canes for decorating
And eating--so much to choose from!
Take plates to friends and
Shut-ins, it is the season to give.
Firemen, EMS personnel and
Police who keep us safe where we live.
