UGLINESS

When I think of ugliness,
I don't think of someone's
Face, body shape, or attire.  That
May be flawless, but what have they done?

I think of a person's heart, mind,
And soul.  To me, ugliness in a person
Means they tear people down just because
They feel they can for no reason.

Just because someone doesn't like
What you say or how you act,
Doesn't make them fair game
For a personal attack.

Christ said to go out and spread
His teachings.  He didn't say to
Murder someone just because
They may not agree with you.

To think of ways to get revenge--
Or make it a priority to hit
Back at someone for an imagined
Wrong, shows ugliness of spirit.

You are to pray for those
Who despitefully use you.
If you have ugliness inside--
Then you definitely need prayers too.

No one want to hear your ugliness--
There is already too much of it
All around the world.  Millions of people
Driven from their homes because they don't "fit".

Ugliness may win you some battles--
But when all is said and done,
No war or anyone's respect has ugliness
Ever really won.
