What are your hopes for the New Year?
Better job. better health, new car--
Or maybe you want a romance,
Someone who'll love you as you are.
A cure for Cancer and Alzheimer's
And other deadly diseases.
No dictators who over run countries,
And kill who they please.
Peace on earth--no more war.
No refugees risking their lives
To get somewhere safe.
No more be-headings with large knives.
Help for the starving, the homeless,
And the sick. Better care for
Our veterans, and healthcare that's
Affordable for ALL, especially the poor.
Government stalemates come to an end and
Congress and President working together
To help their countrymen succeed--
And make the economy better.
We hope all these things
At the start of each New Year.
If we hope long enough--
Maybe they'll appear.
