FORGIVE US LORD

Forgive us Lord, where we have failed you.
There are some in our country who would
Have us turn our backs to you or even hate you.
They have closed their hearts, minds, and souls to Your good.

There is turmoil in our country,
About many different things.
Violence is trying to take over--
It blocks out for some the message You bring.

Our President wants his presidency
To be remembered for improving race relations.
But there have been more protests, killings,
And division between each other in our nation.

And it's not just race where there's division--
Religions and ethnicity have become
Causes for brutality and hatred,
Random mass shootings have left us numb.

We know You don't want this for us--
You have unconditional love.
You must be wounded by what
You see from Heaven up above.

Please forgive us Lord for our failures,
Help us get back to Your loving arms.
Continue to be with us always--
And save us from the devil's harm.
