A dear friend I call my "little sister"
Lost her mother the other day.
Alzheimer's crept in and stole her
Memory and ultimately, her life away.
My friend and her siblings
Made sure she had the best care.
Sadly, no matter how prepared you are--
Death of a loved one can catch you unaware.
I know they will realize that while
She didn't remember them by sight,
She had a heart full of memories
Locked away safe and tight.
All her friends who love her send
Love and prayers to the family.
They challenge us all to learn to knit
Or crochet and give gifts of love in her memory.
Her legacy of love will endure,
Through her family and beyond.
As long as their memories are there--
She isn't really gone.
