Dear Grandma, How I
Wish you were here.
Not realistic I know--
You'd be 114 this year.
There are so many things
I'd like to share,
The way we used to do, laugh
And joke--we were quite a pair.
The projects we did together--
Cooking, making new curtains
To surprise Mom. Our love
For each other was certain.
We'd pick you up at the bus depot,
And bring you home to stay with us.
I can still remember waiting
For them to announce your bus.
I know Mom would love
To sit and talk with you.
We both could use one
Of your hugs--maybe even two.
We know you're safe and happy,
Alzheimer's bothers you no more--
But we both are selfish and wish
You could jut walk right in the door.
