MUD

When I was a kid,
We loved to play
In mud puddles and make mud pies--
To our mothers' dismay.

If they had just finished
Cleaning house, we'd earn their wrath--
Get out of our dirty clothes,
And take a good bath.

What seems ironic
Is how adults now
Use mud for health--expensive
Mud masks, mud baths, wow.

Not to mention the so-called
Mud slinging done by politicians
During campaigns.  Making
Awful, sometimes cruel accusations.

Oh to go back to
Those simple childhood days
When mud was free and just mud--
And no one's reputation had to pay.
