Flights Of Whimsy?

Everyone has flights of whimsy
About what they want to do.
Become a celebrity or philanthropist--
But not very many come true.

Some want to do good things
For their hometown or their state.
Or the nation at large,
To help people communicate.

There are kids these days
That are on a mission.
To help the poor and homeless or find
A treatment to send a disease into remission.

All they need is determination,
Encouragement from family--
Innovative ideas to work with,
Starting with a prototype and some funding.

They have lofty dreams and goals,
But some don't follow through.
Or evil people brainwash them,
And manipulate what they do.

For those who persevere--
They may save the earth yet.
Anything to ease others strife
Is as good as it can get.
