To paraphrase the original "Star Trek" TV Show:
Space: The final frontier. To explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
That was TV. Our space program
And others--have the same goals.
My question is why go elsewhere
When we bomb our own planet full of holes?
Even if there is new life and/or a new
Civilization, they would know
What we'd done to ours and tell us--
Stay away, you're not wanted--GO!
I have nothing against exploring space.
But we have a lot of work to be done
On our own frontier before
Checking into another one.
It shouldn't be about
Competitions or egos--
It should be about feeding and clothing families,
And caring for our military heroes.
As most people know--you should
Get your own house in order
Before you go somewhere else
And wreak havoc and disorder.
If something were to be found in space
That could help our problems here--
That would be marvelous for our
Galaxy and our own frontier.
But to see if other planets can
Sustain human life--
Why go elsewhere, when we've made the
One we have full of grief and strife?
If we're against countries
Invading others for control--
Then why do it on another planet?
Talk about digging ourselves into a hole.
