A beautiful child comes into the world
With no say about the parents they get.
Are they kind and loving--
Or totally unfit?
Will they nurture and encourage?
Or will they be cold and aloof?
Will they say the birth was an accident?
Or demand DNA parenting proof?
Don't tell a child they're stupid,
You'll crush their spirit at the start.
Don't tell them that they're worthless,
It can break their tiny heart.
Don't tell them that they should be quiet,
Because no one wants to hear anything they say.
Because then you trample their spirit. and it
Becomes warped and may stay that way.
Don't blame them for your problems,
The fault lies with you.
If that's the way your parent's did--
You should know that's not what to do.
Two wrongs don't make a right.
No abuse of ANY kind is acceptable!
Don't neglect or dump children off on others,
And wonder why they act out or get in trouble.
And when they're grown and moved far away,
And barely keep in touch---
Don't say you did your very best,
And they're an ungrateful, worthless bunch.
