Puppies

Small and furry,
With big, soulful eyes--
Their whimpers and squeaks turn to
Growls and barks as they grow in size.

Whether medium, big, or small--
They're your companions for life.
Some men are kinder to their dogs
Then their kids and their wife.

All they ask in return
Is that you love and care
For them and keep them safe
From harm.  A life of fun to share.

Don't mistreat and abuse them,
Or dump them somewhere to starve.
Because animal lovers are asking for laws
That will put your sorry butt behind bars.

Come judgement day, how
Will you explain to God above
The reasons you did  those things--
When all they wanted was your love.
