Sitting in a rocker
On the farmhouse porch.
Evening coming on--sun
Went down like a flaming torch.
Enjoy the fresh air and
The night time sounds beginning.
Crickets chirping, night birds
Singing. Nature's music playing.
The moon shines bright, casting
A soft glow. The stars
Are bright pinpricks of beautiful light.
Catching lightening bugs in jars.
Just relaxing and resting
After a hard day's work--
At least you have a view and aren't
In a windowless office like a clerk.
It's peaceful as the family
Discusses their day.
Make plans for tomorrow,
Mucking stalls and baling hay.
The city is big--with a lot to see,
Clubs, restaurants and theaters.
But I'll keep my rocker on the farmhouse porch
I feel closer to God when I'm out in Nature.
This is my way of "stopping to smell the roses",
And I enjoy every bit.
You should try it someday--get a rocker,
Go to your front porch and sit.
