Christmas Rush

Look out world, we're in
The Christmas shopping rush.
Fighting over items, some
People getting trampled in the crush.

The men fight over tools
And electronics, the women--
Clothes and things for the house.
Carols blaring over and over again.

The kids are throwing tantrums
In the toy section--they have
The catalog memorized by heart.
Only the best will be the salve.

Customers just want to get home
And out of the crazy masses.
Short-tempered and tired,
They treat the store help like a----.

The store clerks have to be
Cheery and polite to even the worst
Customers.  Hard to do opening early,
Staying late--your head wants to burst.

Some love this part of the season,
Others anticipate it with dread.
The don't want to be shopping--
They'd rather be home watching sports instead.

Despite all the craziness and stupidity,
There is a reason to celebrate--
His name is Jesus and He's the reason
For this season of love, not hate.
