Politically Correct?

Everyone is so concerned about being politically correct.
People can't relax and be themselves anywhere.
You have to refrain from using certain words,
That might possibly insulting--you're not sure.

When I was a kid, I was brought
Up to show good manners and respect.
We'd never even heard the phrase
"Please be politically correct."

You have to follow protocol,
And sit where you're supposed to sit.
If you dare to make a mistake--
In minutes you're a star on the internet.

Formal parties are usually
Stiff, uncomfortable affairs.
Most prefer informal ones--
Complete with mismatched chairs.

Some try to take away our freedoms,
But we choose to stand and fight.
Some freedoms are constitutional,
And some our God given right.
