Integrity In Sports

Baseball our national past-time,
Had a shadow cast on it--
By players using steroids
To make sure they got hits.

The Tour De France
Was tarnished by a man
And some others who doped.
Sadly, the main person was American.

Football has it's problems too.
Molesting kids, domestic abuse.
And don't forget brain injuries that
Cause players their functions to lose.

In some places with sports,
It's long been an unofficial rule--
Ignore big problems,
No matter how cruel.

At some colleges it's a
Well known fact coaches will do
Almost anything to keep their
Teams among the top two.

Only after an uproar and petitions
Did the NFL change
Their attitude regarding punishment
For players who did criminal things.

Whatever happened to
Good Sportsmanship?
What about integrity being
A trait in the lives we live?

The problems of our country
At this time are great.
We need good, honest entertainment,
Not more problems and debate.
