We want to be respected
Like everyone wants to be.
Not treated like sex objects
You wouldn't introduce to friends or family.
We want you to know we're not stupid,
We have brains as good as anyone.
We work hard to prove ourselves,
And look how far we've come.
We don't want sexual harrassment
In the places where we work.
We hate being rubbed up against
By some annoying jerk.
We like to have conversations
That stimulate our brains--
Not sleazy suggestions
From men with minds like one track trains.
And if we're part of a couple,
We ask for love and honesty--
To be able to trust,
Without fear of infidelity.
We don't want to be abused
By those we know or strangers.
We're not crazy about one night stands--
There's just too many dangers.
Basically we want to be treated
Like intelligent human beings,
Not like empty-headed blondes
You'd use to test your bed springs.
I imagine a man's list
Might be a little similar to ours.
But but they always get paid more,
Even though we put in equal hours.
