God And America

Wars were fought
And blood shed--
To keep our country free
And God led.

Our founding fathers
Wanted not only freedom,
But RELIGIOUS freedom without
Constraints or persecution.

The "Pledge of Allegiance", prayer in schools
And "In God We Trust"
Were fine for generations.
Until the age of "Political Correctness".

Everyone's so touchy about what
You can or cannot do or say--
Children should be brought up to respect others,
And not make fun of those different than they.

They forbid the mention
Of God and prayer in schools--
How many students have died
Since they made those rules?

There's a lot of talk about
Separation of church and state--
But at election time politicians
Make speeches in churches--that's not separate.

This world will never be perfect,
Our country included.
We need common sense leaders,
Not stubborn and deluded.

It shouldn't take something
Like 9/11 to bring us all together,
In good and bad times--
Americans help each other.

We need God and prayer back in our schools,
The "Pledge Of Allegiance" too.
Work together to straighten things out--
And show 'em what Americans can do.
