When you were young,
What were your dreams?
Did you want to be a celebrity,
Or write mysteries with nefarious schemes?
Did you want to be a painter,
Your paintings hung in galleries everywhere?
Or make pottery or furniture
That everyone wants as theirs?
Did you want to own a company
That would be known worldwide?
Something beneficial to everyone,
That would fill you with pride?
Whatever your dreams,
Did you follow them?
Or did circumstances get in the way?
Did people laugh and think your dreams a whim?
Did you fall in love and start a family,
Or did illness hold you back?
Or did you go to serve your country
From another enemy attack?
Sometimes dreams aren't realistic--
But it never hurts to try.
Like post-it notes and Iphones,
They are a legend of their time.
Your dreams may go on the back burner
For the first part of your life.
Keep up your self confidence and talent--
Make sure you keep your savings--don't fall for any hype.
You may never be a millionaire,
Or be famous worldwide---
You may have changed your dreams a bit,
But they can still fill you with pride.
