I hope that however
Old I grow to be,
I never lose touch
With the young child in me.
To remember looking
Through the eyes of a child--
Wide and innocent--
Free of guile.
To see beautiful colors
Wherever they look--
Rainbows, crayons, people,
Pictures in books.
To believe in Unicorns
With all their heart,
And fairy tales they have
Memorized each part.
To be able to dream
Big, wonderful dreams--
Play fun games
And cook up goofy schemes.
All too soon
They grow older, and lose the look of wonder--
At the state of the world
Due to man's greed and hunger.
Everyone should keep in touch
With their inner child--
Remember the good things,
And forget troubles and worries for a while.
I'm not saying
To ignore reality--
But your inner child remembers
How beautiful the world used to be.
