Prayer

To talk to God you don't
Need a secret code word,
Or a special signal--
Just open your heart and you will be heard.

You can pray out loud--
As in church and before meals,
Or silently in your heart and mind,
The Lord hears all appeals.

You don't ask for what you WANT,
You ask for what you NEED.
He'll answer in HIS time--
Not at human speed.

You can have a group of friends
Form a prayer chain--
To have them pray without ceasing
If you have a problem or are in pain.

The power of prayer
Is well known and true--
It's even surprised doctors
Who think there is nothing they can do.

All God's creations
 Are worthy of prayers,
Humans and animals
Receive His loving care.

Pray for countries in turmoil,
Starvation or disease.
And in the United States--
Pray for the government, please.

Going to the Lord in prayer
And having prayers of support--
Gives you a feeling
Of wonderful peace in your heart.
