The saying says
"There's no place like home",
But due to circumstances--
Some are left to roam.
Tornadoes and floods--
Hurricanes and fire,
Some things beyond our control
May transpire.
People left homeless
Due to many things--
Children lose parents through abuse and neglect,
Don't always know the joy a family can bring.
Family arguements and pride,
Keep people away from home--
You may only see each other
Over a family tombstone.
Then there are people
Who are down on their luck--
They live on the streets
And hunt for food through trash and junk.
You can't help them all,
But a kind word, gesture, or touch--
So little for you,
To them means so much.
Sadly, some of our heroes
Whose tour of duty is done--
Come back to "home"
And find they have none.
They need our help
As much if not more,
As the bag ladies or "bums"
Due to flashbacks of war.
Some people are homeless
Due to war and tyranny--
They're considered collateral damage,
Just trying to be free.
You reap what you sow,
You get what you give--
Most people would just be happy
With food and a safe place to live.
