How To Be A True Friend

Make new friends,
But keep the old--
One is silver
And the other gold.

I learned that
In grade school--
It still applies today.
A true friendship is like a jewel.

You keep in contact
With each other--
No matter how far apart,
You've made memories together.

You're there to lend a hand, give them a hug--
 Hold their hand tight--
Or an ear to listen
Through the night.

A shoulder to cry on
When things aren't going right--
And pray for them
For God to show them the light.

Another saying I know says
"One kind word to the living
Is worth more than a million tears at a grave."

That means when you've
Had a friend a long time,
You don't move on to others--
And dump your friend until they die.

To be a good true friend
Is to be there through ups and downs--
And don't be a fake friend,
That's where the Devil can be found.

If you find this
A difficult way to live--
Remember one thing:
You get what you give.
