Ralph Waite/John Walton

I knew him only as an actor,

Never personally--

But he played a father

The way Daddy's are supposed to be.

Providing for his family,

Times were tough--but he stayed fair,

Showed respect to his elders, and enough

Love and kindness for everyone to share.

He believed in God and hard work--

His discipline mixed with love,

He taught his children life lessons,

They would keep lasting memories of.

You could take his word when given--

No doubt he'd follow through,

From what we've heard since he passed,

His character was good and true.

Loved by many and missed by all---

So one last time, sadly

We say "Goodnight and

R.I.P. Daddy".
