In this life.
There are vows we make.
Some we keep--
Some we break.
To love and cherish
'Til death do you part,
Someone usually ends up
With a broken heart.
Some vow to be honest,
Straight forward and true--
Then turn right around
And lie to you.
New recruits in the military
Vow to serve and defend--
While some in upper ranks
Only pretend.
Government officials--
Both federal and state,
Are dishonest and lazy,
And have their own Watergates.
Vow to be Christ-like
In all that you do,
If you fall, get up--
God doesn't give up on you.
When you vow or promise,
Keep your word--
Even if it would be easier
To follow the herd.
To some vows mean nothing--
To to others the world,
A vow by our forefathers,
Keeps our flag unfurled.
