NEVER tell anyone they've outlived their usefulness, not only is it a stupid thing to say--it's cruel. Most of the senior citizens today have more common sense, intelligence, life experience, integrity, and a harder work ethic than some of the younger work force today. They make sure that things needing to be done are taken care of and cover all the bases. They know how to supervise people and projects, and don't quit when the going gets tough. Just because they're older, doesn't mean they're obsolete. Some plans that they used years ago can still be updated and adapted in today's world. The different generations may use different terminology, but they can still work together and learn from each other. Someday, the younger generation work force will be older. If they're lucky--someone may ask for their input or help on a problem. People need to feel useful and appreciated. Don't take that from them.
