THE ELDERLY AND DISABLED

I will never understand why some young people and even some young adults think it is okay to harass senior citizens, laugh at them and even beat and steal from them.  Evidently, they have nothing to do and consider them easy targets.  If someone did that to their family member, unless they are cold hearted and dead inside, they would be angry.  Every senior citizen they harass is a part of someone's family and don't deserve the hassle.  Most of them have gone through more in their lifetimes then the young juveniles would know or begin to understand.  Some even went to war for this country so that those young idiots could live in freedom.  They are part of the fabric of our country. When one dies, we lose a part of history that they carried with them.

You should also never make fun or hassle someone with a disability.  They can't help having a disability--they may have been born with it, been in a terrible accident with severe injuries, or even become disabled serving our country.  Some get PTSD from things they've lived through or borne witness to.  And people with Dementia or Alzheimer's should be given the utmost care and respect.  They may say or do odd things, not know longtime friends or family, get scared or lost easily, or not understand what's going on. There is nothing remotely funny about it.  They and their families are going through a living hell known as "The Long Goodbye." So, before you laugh or pick on someone elderly or disabled, remember--sooner or later, that could be you.
