I have a cousin named Virginia on my Mom's side of the family.
There is a difference in our ages--
But she's as ornery as me.
When Mom and I are on the phone with her,
There's laughter and reminiscing all the time.
She likes doing jigsaw puzzles with help from her daughter.
Besides being a cousin, she's also a good friend.
We trade recipes sometimes and email back and forth.
She even counsels me when I have bouts of depression.
She found a lady in a nearby town who makes kolaches.
So she sent some to Mom for her birthday. They were good,
but not like we made at home. She even sent some with poppy seeds!
Growing up, we'd have an assembly line to make them: Mom, Grandma,
and us kids working together. The recipe made about 100.
It's a family recipe from their homeland in Bohemia.
