When I was a kid, times were simpler. Not that we weren't
As smart and motivated as people now, we just didn't
Drive ourselves crazy with it. We made sure that we kept
Work and family time at an even balance using common sense.
As kids we would play outdoors unless it was too hot or the
Weather was bad. We'd play catch, hide and seek, ride bikes or
Make tents out of old blankets. If we couldn't play outside,
We'd play board games like Monopoly or Operation. Even Twister.
Sometimes if we'd been good and hadn't broken anything or
Driven someone's Mom crazy--as long as it wasn't too close to our
Dinner time, we'd get a snack of Kool-Aid and peanut butter and
Jelly sandwiches. That was a treat. We'd have fun for hours.
Record players, 45 records. Hoola Hoops, and roller skates that hooked
To your shoes with a key. Teeter totters on playgrounds. So many fun
Things I grew up with aren't around anymore. It's all called Retro and in
Museums as displays. I treasure those memories, each and every one.
