There have long been theories on how
Black people became slaves. Some
Say that African Chiefs sold a few of their
People to seafarers from Europe for a sum.
Others say that seafarers came to Africa
And kidnapped people and took them away
In chains. Either way--it was wrong. No human
Is the property of another, no matter what many say.
What idiot came up with the idea that
Black people were inferior to whites was
Definitely wrong. When you take someone
By force from their homeland, were they the cause?
There is naturally fear of the unknown, as well
As language barriers, and not knowing
What white people considered "proper" behavior
In society. They'd never even seen such a thing.
So, of course when the black people didn't answer
Them, or do as they told them, they decided
They were inferior to whites. That was an INCORRECT
And STUPID assumption. God says they're equally created.
The Africans were made to do hard manual labor.
They were given poor living conditions, just
Enough food to keep up their strength, and could
Not look a white person in the eye. Very unjust.
If they didn't do the job correctly, or their "Boss" was in a foul mood--
They'd have to do it over and over and possibly get
A beating or severe whipping too.
President Lincoln wrote the "Emancipation Proclamation"
That set all the slaves free. People who disagreed fought
Against it--that's how the Civil War came to be.
Further along the centuries--the slavery abolished,
They became housekeepers and manservants to the
Wealthy, but the Blacks were kept segregated from the whites.
Separate entrances, restrooms, drinking fountains, and schools and such.
People called them names that should not be allowed in any conversation.
If it was a Black man's word against a white man--the white man was truthful
and the Black man a liar, even if it was actually the other way around. Prejudice.
Some whites formed a group called the KKK and dressed in white hooded
Outfits and would terrorize Black families by burning crosses in their yards,
Or taking one of them out and lynching them and then laugh. They even segregated
Them in the military. The Tuskegee Airmen are the most known unit of Black
Soldiers. Our country is integrated now--but there is still too much injustice.
Racism is everywhere. BLACK LIVES MATTER.
