REMEMBER THE HANDS

Remember the hands that raised you.
The ones that tickled you to make
You laugh, and comfort you when
You cried.  And made monsters go away.

The hands that made sure you had
Washed behind your ears, and that
Your hands were clean for dinner.  And when
You were a baby, put cream on your diaper rash.

The one's that gave you a swat on your
Butt when you did something wrong.
And made sure you had good food
So you'd grow up big and strong.

The hands that did the housework,
The dishes and loads of laundry.
Cooked all the meals everyday,
And the ones who bought the groceries.

The hands that held your hand
On all your firsts:  First day
Of school, First Dr. visit, and
First dentist visit, they made you feel safe.

The hands that through the
Years have gotten old and worn.
But still convey as much love
As they did when you were born.

Don't take those hands for granted--
Hold them as often and as long as
You can.  Some day the memories
Will comfort you of the touch of those hands.
