DEPENDIBILITY AT WORK VS. RESPONSIBLE CAREGIVER

It's a sad reality these days, that
So many of us Baby Boomers are
Known as "The Sandwich Generation".
Trying to do both well is our private war.

When a company hires a person, they
Want someone capable and dependable.
That's fine--but down the road, the worker
Becomes a family caregiver--no one else is able.

People where you work don't care about
Your home life--they want you there to
Work.  When you're a caregiver, you have
ER visits and Dr. appointments too.

Not to mention the fact that the person
Trying to do both is under stress
That causes them health issues too.  They
May get written up at work--it's a mess.

Not everyone can afford to put their parent
Or grandparent in a nice retirement home or
Nursing facility--so they take them in or move
Into their home, it's simpler.

I know it's not feasible to give leeway
In such circumstances--but don't EVER
Think the person is NOT dependable.  They
Just know which responsibility is greater.

GOD IS IN CHARGE.
