Beautiful melodies flow
Through our minds--
They're the soundtracks
Of long ago times.
Some may be Gospel, some
May be Country or Pop Rock.
Some are love ballads and
Some have a beat that was hot.
Some make you smile, sing,
And dance like back then.
Some make you sad, remembering
When you lost a friend.
The music we grew up to--
Some of our elders called noise.
Now they're considered classics,
We just knew they brought us joy.
Some of the artists are in the
Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame--
Others, Knights Of The British
Empire--female singers made Dames.
Whatever generation you are,
Whatever genre of music you like--
It all started with a melody and
Lyrics someone sat down to write.
