Today is the first day of
A brand new year. It may
Sound naïve, but hopefully it's
The start of 365 brand new days.
Let's not repeat the mistakes of
Last year, let us learn from them.
No more slaughtering of innocent
Men, women and little children.
Find ways to conquer the feelings
Of anger, rage, and hatred that don't
Cause pain or anguish, or start a war. There
Are NO do-overs, we have to make it count.
Instead of boast about our wealth, we
Need to put our egos aside and help
One another to make sure they have
Food, shelter, healthcare, and hope.
And to create a program so that
All children, not just some, are able
To get a good education. One day, they
May be the ones that make cancer curable.
We need to learn to have patience with other's
Differences, not judge them BECAUSE of them.
They may come from a different place, dress differently,
Talk differently--but just like us, they're human.
Bullying needs to stop COMPLETELY. Whether it's
At school, the workplace, or even done by other
Countries. People should not interfere in other's business--
Especially when they have their own work to be done.
No one should make fun of or mock a person with a
Disability. It could be from a birth defect, an accident,
Even a war injury, losing a limb or PTSD. They've done
Nothing TO you, but FOR you and freedom in this land.
We need to make sure illegal drugs and weapons are taken
Off the streets. In a home with guns and kids--make sure the
Weapons are locked up and out of reach of children--even teenagers.
Too many play with guns and someone ends up dead.
Everyone, everywhere, needs to come together and work side by
Side to FIX the problems--not ARGUE, but find ways to fix them.
Bringing God and prayer back to our schools is a good start. And
Making sure that ALL places of worship are sacred, not places for vandalism.
Maybe if God and prayer were included in everyday conversations at
School and home, people would realize that places of worship are supposed
To be safe havens for people. Not meant to be burnt, defamed, or
Turned into shooting galleries.
