There are a lot of people who feel
They have the best Mom in the world.
And there are just as many who don't.
They can tell stories that make your hair curl.
I'm writing about my Mom--one of
The good ones. I try to write a
Little something around this time of year,
She's not perfect: she'd be first to say.
She grew up on a farm in rural Kansas.
She worked for 5 years before she
Married a man with 3 kids. Talk about
Baptism by fire! They blended into a family.
Two years later she had a bad backache--
That was labor, and I showed up. Oh Boy.
She is kind and gentle, but she can be
Tough--she is red headed by the way.
Little did Mom know the many times
She'd have to be strong and a survivor.
Every good Mom has times they need to
Be one. She also leans on Christ her Savior.
Her Dad died before she was married. Her
Mom lived several years, Mom and I would
Care for her when she got Alzheimer's. When we
No longer were able to, Mom found the best care she could.
That was a time of courage. And loss.
Then my brother-in-law died unexpectedly--
More courage, more loss. Mom had to
Be strong for my sister and her family.
My brother died of cancer--we saw him
Just before he died. His birth mother
Came to see him--he didn't want to see
Her. He wanted his MOM--no other.
My father had open heart surgery
And Mom was there for him until
She was ready to drop. She was by him
Until he took his last breath and was still.
We know Mom has courage--she's shown
It many times. She's also shown she's
A survivor. She had survived breast cancer
And chemo, and triple by-pass surgery.
She survived a staph infection, pneumonia--
And helped to pay for and plan one of her
Other daughter's funerals due to a car crash. And 3
TIA's of which the Drs' are still trying to convince her.
Plus several assorted broken bones due to falling
Because she is unsteady and doesn't like to use
Her walker. I think though, after her last fall--she
Has decided that it definitely does have it's uses.
No, she's not perfect--but I'd say she's
Definitely courageous and a survivor,
Who can't understand why she is still here.
God's not done with her yet.
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!
