UNDER THE MOON AND STARS

In the dark of the night,
She comes dressed in a formal.
He is there in his tux.  This is
For them--only stars and moonlight.

They never went to prom,
Never got a wedding dance.
They meet at their favorite place--
Suddenly soft, delicate music comes on.

They smile at memories of their
Younger selves, passing notes and
Meeting at their special place.
Planning their future years.

They enjoyed having their own
Secret relationship--no one knew
But them.  When they were old enough,
They married in front of the town.

They were there for each other, in
Good times and bad.  Sharing joy
And sorrow, sickness and health.
Knowing their vows shouldn't be forsaken.

They've had 4 children who made them
Proud.  Adorable grandkids they spoil
Rotten.  Sometimes they smile at each other--
Remembering the dance that won't end.
