KANSAS HOME

Train whistle blowin' in the distance--
Cars and trucks driving on the Turnpike.
Country sides of farms old and new with
Windmills blowing in the wind, what a sight.

Wheat fields growing tall and golden,
Cows and horses in the pastures--
Folks that gather to make plans to
Help down on their luck neighbors.

Planting or harvesting crops--your own
And someone else's whose had tragedy.
Everyone knows how and what to do--
Don't need consultants or strategies.

Having plenty of good home cookin'
Ready to feed family and friends.
Some call it "puttin' on the feedbag", church
On Sundays, prayers that the crops come in.

We may be called a "Plain State".
And we may have totally flat ground--
Between the weather and our cities big
And small, we have history all around.

We're not all hicks with no manners--
We have many politicians, TV and
Movie stars, musicians and others
That come from our own Kansas land.

We may not be considered the "elite few",
But that's all right by us.
We're proud to call this place our
Home--this state called KANSAS.
