Lord, we lost another good man
On Friday.  He was far from being
Perfect, he'd tell you that himself.
Our nation is sad and grieving.

He served his country long and well.
As a pilot in WWII he was shot
Down, but rescued by a sub.  He was awarded
The Navy Cross, but never forgot the crew he lost.

He worked in the oil business for a while,
Then in the campaign for President,
Ronald Reagan chose him for his running
Mate.  Together they helped the Cold War end.

He was a man of honesty, integrity, and faith
In God.  He loved his wife and family for
Everyone to see.  He was loved and respected
By friends and his former presidential staffers.

He had only 1 term as President, but
He served with dignity.  He weighed
Reports from his advisors when making decisions.  He
Thought before he spoke, and people listened to what he said.

His passing is the end of an era.  His
Legacy is honesty, love of country, love
Of your family, and most importantly--
Strong love and faith in God.
