THOUSAND OAKS AND OTHERS

Tragically once again, our nation mourns.
For no known reason, another mass murder
Occurred.  Innocent people having fun, shot
Where they stood--also a First Responder.

The past mass shootings have had no reason
Or cause.  Some say the shooters were sick
Of being bullied and wanted revenge--or they hated
Jewish people, killing them as they worshipped.

The latest one in California, they're still
Trying to understand why a Marine that
Served his country with distinction entered
A nightclub and blew people away.  For what?

Some say he was showing signs of PTSD.
Whatever exam they gave him was wrong.
They cleared him of any mental problems--but
Both his mental and emotional state weren't strong.

Some of these mass killers reasons may
Never come to light.  Others we're never
Quite sure what evil filled their mind
And hearts--the reasons lost forever.

We need to have better control over
Not only buying guns, but better
Mental healthcare for everyone including veterans.
They've gone through hell for us, they're not quitters.

When a person is surrounded by bomb
Blasts day after day and trying to stay
Alive--Holiday fireworks and a car back
Firing sends them back to where their buddies lay.

Think of WWI and WWII vets who had
PTSD.  There was no real way to help
Them then.  And our Vietnam vets got spit on
When they came home.  How do you think they felt?

We all need to do better in this world
And support our military past and
Present.  And get better mental health
Programs for all.  UNITED WE STAND.
