WHAT HAPPENED AMERICA?

What's happening to our country?
We're losing our morals, civility,
And common sense.  Children are hurt
And bewildered due to parents stupidity.

There has always been trash talk in
Politics--usually just during a campaign.
Now the mud-slinging and name calling continues
On and on.  Their manners went down the drain.

How can a person keep their integrity when being
Accused of sexual misconduct, fraud, and perjury?
How do they expect citizens to trust them when
They are caught lying through their teeth?

Why can't they do what they were elected for,
And not have scandals and criminal activity
On the side?  Our current President is taking all
The respect from the office he holds, and all dignity.

Most people I know had parents that taught
Them if you can't say something nice--say
Nothing at all.  I wonder how these officials
Parents would react if they heard and saw them today.

And with all those degrees among the
Politicians--there doesn't seem to be
One lick of common sense.  Maybe someone
Should give a refresher course and make it mandatory.

All we can do besides vote them out,
Is have faith and pray to God.  We're
Sick of the division and unrest everywhere,
And our enemies do their best to interfere.

This is not what our military has fought
And died for.  They fought for freedom,
Not illegal activities by the government.  They
Fought against enemies both foreign and domestic.

They fought to keep countries from invading
Others.  Now we are invaded electronically
And don't find out until after the fact.
Somewhat tarnished--we're still the greatest.
