Festive decorations everywhere,
Lights, garlands, snowmen.
All kinds of treats to eat--
Bake-off contests an annual tradition.
You have your choice of beverages:
Hot cider, coffee-flavored or not,
And the traditional cup of cocoa with
Marshmallows and whip cream on top.
Lines of booths selling hand crafted
Gifts, jewelry, crocheted and knitted
Items, wood carvings and toys.
Artwork from each generation gifted.
Snowball fights, snow angels,
Contests for best snowman
Or sculpture. Judging for best
Baked goods and tasty jams.
Sleigh rides and hayrack rides--
Kids sitting on Santa's knee.
And a large tented area for quiet
Reflection of what Christmas really means.
Mixed among everything are
Christmas trees decorated with care.
There are statue Nativity scenes as well
As live one's making you feel you're there.
Christmas Eve services lit by
Candlelight. Singing of favorite
Christmas carols, voices ringing clearly
Through the air this night.
And everywhere you go, you hear
People talking and saying "Merry
Christmas" as it should be, and
Not "Happy Holidays", it's too ordinary.
