HOW MANY?

How many potential visionaries or leaders
For peace have we lost?
Small children killed by their parents, or
School students murdered--what's the cost?

One of them could have changed the
World--by curing diseases
Or using diplomacy to settle
Battles in far-off countries.

The students from Parkland are
Right when they say "Enough is
Enough".  They're the ones being
Killed, children and teenage kids.

Adults are being murdered in
Mass shootings as well.  We all
Say prayers and feel their pain--but ask
For stronger gun control:  we're told go to hell.

There is no reason people should
Feel threatened by this request--
The 2nd amendment is not being taken
Away--just updated at last.

Raising the age when it's legal to
Buy a gun, and stricter, more
Thorough background checks,
And no assault rifles sold in stores.

Hunters can still keep their
Weapons for when hunting season
Comes.  The government should
Do what's best for it's citizens.

No Civil Rights Association like the NRA
Is supposed to be, should dictate the rules for
Buying guns being updated--They should
Embrace them, not ignore.

There is no reason for anyone
Who is not law enforcement
Or military to carry assault rifles.
That is just plain common sense.

If things are to get better--
Then as the students say,
Things have to change.  In honor
Of those innocent lives taken away.
