It's a sad comment on our times
That on two of the most important
Holidays of each year, everyone
Gripes, grumbles and rants.
Thanksgiving is a holiday where
You come together as a family
To thank God for all He has given
You--not just to get a recipe.
It should be a potluck type
Meal--everyone brings something
So one person isn't stuck with
Doing the cooking AND cleaning.
It is not supposed to be about
Organizing early morning shopping
Trips to get the best sales and gifts
As a head start to Christmas giving.
Next is Christmas--which stores
Started decorating for before
Halloween. Frenzied shoppers
Crazed by Christmas muzak in stores.
Christmas IS a time of giving--
But to help others who need
Help. NOT to get the newest
Video game or toys. That is more greed.
Christmas is a time to celebrate
Christ's birth--we need to remember
That Jesus is the reason for the season,
And not commercialize, but honor.
Some people don't like the holidays
Because of all the racket and mayhem
They bring. Others have lost loved ones around
Holidays--it's a time to remember and celebrate them.
If more people would remember
The main reasons for Thanksgiving
And Christmas--they'd feel better and be
Happier with the life they're living.
