THE RIVER OF A MOTHER'S EMOTIONS

The river of a mother's emotions
Can run quite deep.  Sometimes
It overflows with no warning--and
Runs down her face from her eyes.

It can be because she is happy, her
Family loves her and tells her everyday.
It can be because someone hurt them, and
She's angry and knows violence isn't the way.

Sometimes SHE'S the one whose hurt--
But she tries to keep it all inside.
She puts on a brave front--
But the river is running high.

Then when she loses someone
She loves, the river runs over
With grief.  Let the river run
And just love her.

And when she knows she's
Leaving and going home to God--
The river is mixed with joy and
Sadness at leaving this earthly sod.
