THINK IT OVER

You say when you step on or burn
The flag--you're making a political
Statement.  That it is protected by the
Constitution as a freedom shared by all.

But if you think about it, no
Matter your political views--
You're mocking the soldiers who fought
And died to protect that right for you.

That flag is a symbol of our
Country people have died to
Defend.  Possibly some ancestors
Of yours.  You mock them too.

Desecrating our nation's flag is not
Going to solve the problems we have.
It simply shows little respect and pride
For the banner that waves.

Some countries imprison people
Who desecrate their flags.  Here,
It's one of our freedoms.  Some say
It's sacrilege to a symbol we hold dear.

As for our National Anthem--every
Time it's played--whether you like how
Things are or not, Stand up, put your hand
Over your heart--make your country proud.
