PROMISES

Why do people promise things,
But never follow through?
Not just politicians, though
They number quite a few.

When promises aren't kept
To citizens, they protest and riot.
When it's personal, one to one,
People get depressed and quiet.

How many countries have different
Factions fighting civil wars ?
And how many hearts are broken
Because friends are friends no more?

If only there was a way to
Make the people who cause this
To feel the recipients pain--not keep
Getting raises and doing less.

Befriending people only to use
And betray them behind their backs.
You get what you give--just
