How many times did your parents say:
"Just wait till you have kids who
Act like you. When you're the
Parent, see what you do."
Other phrases such as "wait
Until your father get's home",
"Go to your room with no dinner", or "your
Hair is sticking up--where's your comb?"
But hopefully they also said
Things to encourage you--"just apply
Yourself--you'll be amazed at what
You can do. You won't know until you try."
And their favorite phrase for
Punishment: "You're grounded."
You swore you wouldn't do this to
Your kids--they wouldn't feel hounded.
But every once in a while, you'll say
Something--and ding! a buzzer
Goes off telling you that without knowing
It you sound like your father and mother.
Don't get upset and think you need
Therapy. This happens to everyone
At sometime or another. We rely on
What we know in order to get things done.
Before their time is over, make
Sure to tell them Thank You, because
They've helped you be the person you are
Today. Give them a round of applause.
